CWDM and DWDM have long been the focus of Transmode as technologies to help our customers get the most out of their fiber infrastructure. We use these established technologies in an innovative way for many purposes:

  • Increase cost-effectiveness and capacity of metro network solutions
  • Create flexibility and scalability to accommodate cost efficient network growth – both in size and functionality
  • Provide simplicity and ease of use during both deployment and operation phases
  • Introduce possibilities for service differentiation through Layer 2 integration

This is all made possible through our in-depth knowledge of optical networking engineering – something that has also governed our choice of technologies and solutions.

We call our innovative way of using CWDM and DWDM technologies “iWDM™” (intelligent WDM). A part of the iWDM concept is a patented automatic client protocol and bit-rate detection which eventually results in the ability to reduce an operator’s OPEX by removing the need for complex installation, commissioning and provisioning procedures.

Transmode is a pioneer in using CWDM as well as un-amplified DWDM networking. The latter is based on an innovative low-loss system architecture that results in greater network performance and dramatically reduced complexity. Although today Transmode’s solutions extend from the customer premise to 1000+ km amplified DWDM solutions.

Cost efficiency and Low Power Design is further enhanced by our ROADM solution - optimized for dynamic networking. Built for metro and regional applications, it provides the ability to add/drop nodes and bring bandwidth on the fly.
